Welcome to NCTE!
The National Conference for Teachers of English (NCTE) is a joint initiative of the USA Embassy Cultural Affairs Office, the Ministry of Public Education and the Centro Cultural Costarricense Norteamericano (CCCN). For over thirty-five years, these organizations have been committed to providing English teachers with training on the latest resources and trends in ELT. The NCTE provides presenters with valuable opportunities to showcase the latest research and sound practices in the field. The NCTE also constitutes a valuable opportunity for educational publishers and suppliers to exhibit their teaching materials and promote their services among English teaching professionals.
In this edition we will have: Aziz Abu Sarah (Nat Geo Explorer), Joan Kang Shin, Thomas Farrell, Betsy Parish, Laura Beacher, Ruben Puentedura, Keith Folse, Kara McBride and more!

There will be five plenary sessions by renowned international speakers, 22 concurrent sessions by national and international experts, 8 workshops conducted by international teaching specialists, and 9 webinars (from May 18 to May 20) by special guests as well. During the event, there will be time for networking, coffee, lunch, cultural activities, and visits to the Electronic Village where the publishing houses will showcase their best educational materials related to technology and methodology in ELT.
The NCTE 2020 has also organized a series of 9 Webinars to help teachers continue to work on their professional development after our two-day event. Our Webinar speakers, who are scattered all through the Americas, have also put their effort to share with NCTE participants their expertise in the various thematic strands our convention has been subdivided into. We invite you to join us in these online sessions to continue gathering more ideas to become a more effective language instructor and an active member in your communities of practice.
