The Centro Cultural Costarricense Norteamericano decided to venture a few months back into the latest available technologies to jump into the experience of learning English with the most innovative resources in the education market.
The Centro Cultural has made one of its most important investments in the last 10 years in order to start a gradual process of improvement of the whole administrative platform for enrollment and registration in its sites of San Pedro, La Sabana, Alajuela and Cartago, as well as of the way of learning English.
Since the second semester of 2009, 35% of classrooms of the main sites have interactive boards that allow students and teachers to have a modern resource that could be used for the class to be more dynamic and for both teachers and students to write texts or watch videos over the Internet.
These boards will be made available in all the classrooms of the four main sites by mid-2011.
An important complement for the learning of English is the exclusive edition of books used for the English Now program.
These books are the appropriate work tool for the classes given. Through them, students can develop --even more-- the contents studied and have a vast knowledge of the culture of the United Sates.
The Mark Twain Library of the Centro Cultural has the first virtual library of the country, called NetLibrary. Users can access the classics of universal literature and the current best sellers available in the format of audio books and digital books in Spanish and English that could be downloaded into computers or mp3 players.
Another important change is the investment in software to soon have the students enrolled and registered via Internet, which will facilitate the process. Through this software, the students could have direct communication with their teachers through e-mail and forums. They could also check the calendar of exams and even upload their homework to be checked online.
The interactive boards are Promethean. The books were developed by Oxford University Press. The virtual library is through ESBO. The online enrollment and registration is created by Innovasoft.
65 Anniversary
This year, the Centro Cultural Costarricense Norteamericano celebrates its 65 anniversary. With the same vision of teaching the English language and provide a space for the exchange of the arts, this institution has invested in creating more and better tools to achieve this objective.
Therefore, the Centro Cultural presents its new graphic image to show a commitment of providing the best tools to the Costa Rican society through the teaching of English and the cultural spaces of the Sophia Wanamaker galleries and the Eugene O’Neill Theater.
“The intention of refreshing the Centro Cultural is to demonstrate that we are in the vanguard of technology and education, at the same time that we show the cooperation between Costa Rica and the United States. This time around our logo looks younger and dynamic but at the same time it is formal and elegant. This logo has a lot of versatility, just as the institution does”, explained the Marketing Director Roberto Biasetti.
The new image was developed by the advertising agency La Tres, from Jotabequ Group.
